An oldie but a goodie. This is still one of my abosolute favorite electronics design concepts. The original concept calls for casual (non-intensive) computer use, but I think this design can be expanded into a more powerful and functional laptop, specifcally aimed at travelers / always-on-the-go types. Those cute netbooks that are popular now are awesome and all, but typing on a small keyboard sucks and is very non-ergonomic. A flip-out fullsize keyboard like this might just to the trick. So this printer comes with its own travel BUCKET that houses the power adapter, battery pack, ink, and paper. As you’ve guess already, this thing can run on batteries which Canon is calling “perfect for spontaneous photos of special moments”. Disregarding whatever the hell that means, this is a really good idea and it’s refreshing to see a new take on probably one of the most boring gadgets.

Neil Poulton goes beyond minimal and designs some weird sci-fi shit for Lacie’s new 4big Quadra.
